SMA wins local submission award
Growing up and living in the area, husband and wife Peter Sheridan and Irene Sheridan-Miller know the Parramatta River foreshore as well as the River Cat.The Rydalmere couple had often passed between the Bernie Banton and Lennox bridges and thought about the untapped potential of the site.
“Being a local and having a local firm, the entry did have much more significance and appeal because we would be the ones getting the benefit from the design as well” – Mr Sheridan said
Both principals in a local architecture firm, it was only natural they would enter their vision for the river’s foreshore into the Ideas on Edge Competition. And they learned last week that their firm’s entry in the council competition had won the Local Submission Award.
“The idea is to allow the public to be part of the environment. To draw them down and to create an interesting space for them”
The entry is based on creating a series of public spaces and a public promenade along the river’s foreshore.
